Well, the confusion the actors show is correct.

But no, time doesn't look like that.
Time is a construct used on this planet so that we can see, slow down, and be involved in what we are creating.

In the after life... is a weird place, in that it is not really removed from the earth.
Heaven and Hell are of earth, and each person visits both, each life, for as long as is necessary.

Outside of this structure there is only now.
Think of your life as a movie.
Think of outside as seeing the whole movie, all the frames, lying on the floor, including all of the discarded scenes, all the reshoots, they are all there. All in the now. (and more scenes are added as you live your life and make new decisions)

And, what happened in the past really doesn't affect the future.
The future, paints the present upon the backdrop of the past.
And yes, you can redefine/reimagine the past.

The future is what causes the changes.
