Its like Real estate, is it:

• Real as in tangible, so real estate is a permanent asset like land
• Real as in "El Camino Real" (the road of the kings) where the crown owns the land, and you are just a tenant.

Although everyone says the first, the second one makes absolute sense considering how the govern-cement handles said ownership of property.
