One of the fledgling Stacker communities that I am involved with that is based in Australia is called Silveroos. I’ve just seen that they are looking at minting their own Custom Silver Round for 2024. This is something that we used to do back in the STEEM days with our now quite recognisable STEEM Rounds of 2017, 2018 and 2019 being held by a lot of our current members. I know how difficult it can be to get the designs and the economics right to mint a custom round and I acknowledge that there are some very good reasons why we haven’t done it in a long while…
So I was curious about the Silveroos recent initiative because Silveroos is a LOT smaller community than what we have here at SGS, however they have a number of very dedicated stackers and even bullion traders amongst their ranks. They seem to know what they’re doing. If they manage to get a Silveroos round made I will be very interested to not just pick up a few of them, but also find out some of the specifics about how they went about it, the mintage and mint used….and how much it all cost them.
We have already revived our old Monster Raffle successfully and maybe at some point in the not-too-distant future we might be ready to revive our Customer Silver Round and start afresh with a new HIVE series. In the past we’ve had legends like @raybrockman and
@sevinwilson driving the process but those guys aren’t really active on the blockchain these days so the experience, knowledge and contacts that they have acquired in minting the old STEEM Rounds is kind of lost to us at the moment.
I’m not sure if I’m the one to step up and take something like this on myself and I’m still kind of short on fiat to be spending on metals, but it doesn’t hurt to find out a bit of information about how we might go about it for when we might be ready. What do you think? Would you be interested in a new Custom Round for SGS? Do you have any experience, knowledge or contacts that might be of use?
