It’s been 6 months since my last post and that was on STEEM so it doesn’t really count any more. I never really went away, life just got too crazy for me to find time (and headspace) to write properly so I just scrolled the old feed, dropped the odd comment here and there while trying to keep abreast of developments. I failed at that last part but now that life for me might be starting to settle down a bit once more it’s time for me to study the lay of the land and make my first real post on HIVE. Since it’s been so long and we’re on a new platform I’ll have a go at re-introducing myself.
I’m a bit of a cynic and that aspect of my persona has probably become a bit more pronounced in 2020 but I do try and see the positive side of things while valuing those around me who show genuine benevolence to their fellow humankind. As such I like to get involved in communities and help build things that look like they might be good for the world. If they enrich the participants in the process then that’s a nice bonus. Communities here on HIVE may very well tick both boxes so that’s where I will be renewing my blogging efforts. On the old platform I was involved with #TeamAustralia and #SteemSilverGold communities. The former seems to have pretty much ceased to exist though I do notice a few familiar Australian faces have made the migration over to HIVE. The old #SteemSilverGold mob are still chugging along with a community called Silver Gold Stackers here on HIVE so that’s encouraging.
I note that most of the really worthwhile people who actually know their ass from their elbow when it comes to crypto (and what STEEM was supposed to be about) have mostly migrated over to HIVE. Quite likely they were just as appalled as I was to see the shenanigans that led to the old blockchain essentially becoming centralised. I find that pretty encouraging too. Overall I think HIVE today looks better and has greater prospects than the old STEEM ever did so I’ve been quietly buying some stake up at around 20-22 cents. I do think the bottom is in and the next crypto bull run is just getting underway so HIVE is possibly not just a good place to be, but a good investment to boot.
I’m still not exactly sure what I am going to blog about going forward. I used to write a bit about precious metals and cryptos so I’ll be taking a very serious look at the LeoFinance community as some of my old content should fit in there pretty well. I wrote a few technical pieces about STEEM, which often ended up controversial so I might steer clear of that while I find my feet again. I’ve noted that the old SteemSQL service I used has now migrated to HiveSQL and while it’s a great service I can’t really justify paying 4 HBD just to run a query or 2 in a day to write an analytical piece that will probably payout half that much. I also am into sports and a few other random things but I never really got much engagement with that stuff on STEEM and the audience on HIVE is probably smaller so I’ll put that on ice for now too.
Anyway, that’s probably enough of a re-introduction for now. If you’ve made the journey over from STEEM I commend you on your wisdom and your fortitude and I look forward to reconnecting with you. I’ll drill down into a few things I’ve touched on above and try to post semi-regularly (I am aiming for weekly) so give me a follow and see if I can pique your interest in something.
