It's got to be!
Did you have a productive week? We did over at BuddyUP!
There were further improvements to our server this week with the introduction of embedded messages. These messages are looking super clean and professional, which is great for any newer members wanting to figure out what to do in a pinch. We've also changed the joining requirements for new members in an effort to get members involved quickly and we have also started talking about a way to improve our Buddy Request category.
All will be explained before the end of the post!
I also have a fantastic opportunity for a member of BuddyUP who wants to take on some more responsibility. This opportunity, much like the Mormyrid and Swordfish roles, will soon be rewarding members with our token for their efforts.
Most of you already know how committed we are to making our server clear and understandable for all. We're always trying to trim back the unnecessary information so that you can grab what you need to know in the fastest time possible. Time is precious!
The newest addition to the server is our embedded messages. These are looking awesome! Check a couple of them out below:
They are looking much cleaner than the previous messages we had by a long shot, while also getting straight to the point with the information you need. We've also decided to use different colors in various categories too. Information first, design close behind!
Previous to the latest update, to join BuddyUP, you had to decide on sending our community account 1 SBD or you'd be required to make an introduction post in our 'buddyup' tag. We've changed the requirements now to make it slightly easier to get involved.
We want to try our best to weed out members who aren't willing to get involved so that the BuddyUP experience is more genuine and constructive. People who just want to spam channels with their posts are a waste of space and energy and it's no fun when you have to constantly tell people to stop. We want to go with the flow.
As you may have spotted before in the embed message, we still have two options to join BuddyUP but they are both slightly different from the past.
Option 1: Send 0.5 SBD to @buddyup
Option 2: Write an introduction message and share it in #the-puddle
Nothing too serious and simple enough for any members to complete regardless of their experience level. We are always there to answer any questions and we will occasionally give memberships for free to anybody who already shows great promise.
We will also give free membership to any members of the @welcomewagon initiative.
It's time to let you all know about our new idea for the Buddy Request category!
Myself and @penderis were talking about how we can make the #request-a-bud channel a bit more exciting and beneficial for our members the other day. The bot does require a little bit of tweaking to bring it back up to speed, which will be approached this week, but in the meantime, we are going to be introducing a new channel for you all to visit.
I'm not going to give too much away until next weeks update post, but if you are a part of the server you can stop by and let us know what you think of the new idea. We will be making it rewarding for our members to get involved! Oh, and we will also be changing the pairing from 2 days - 5 days.
I hope so! We're starting to edge closer and closer to a completed server (I know... it's never complete with me on the case) and it's going to become harder to keep this update post packed full of useful information. My plan is to start drafting out a plan for our server bot and then we will start sharing information about that in our Sunday post too.
We will also be sharing more information about the token from time to time.
Last but certainly not least, Drop in the Ocean! I hope you have all got your posts ready to rock and roll for tomorrow. Our topic of the week is Creativity. If you'd like to get involved, create a post with the word Creativity in mind and publish it tomorrow using the tag 'dropintheocean'. At 20:00 GMT, join the #dropintheocean channel and get ready to present your post for us on voice. Anybody involved will receive 1 BUDDYUP token (great way for Tetra's to reach their #weekly-checklist target!).
Thanks yet again for another brilliant week in BuddyUP everyone!
I just want to share a brief acknowledgment to @thealliance &
@helpie. I've been chatting with
@enginewitty and
@meno /
@pechichemena over the past couple of weeks about our communities, and how we all share similar values about the importance of collaborating our efforts and views. It's a great feeling to know that these communities share similar principles as BuddyUP and it allows me to say that I personally support them both 100%. I encourage you all to do the same.
We all grow together
This has been @calumam, thanks for reading.
