The brave little weaver dive-bombed the snake as it slowly made its way to another nest. The boomslang was well over a metre long and in no hurry. Below a dozen humans strained their heads watching the ferocious battle. The trees were an uproar of screeching birds and yet only one dared to fight the snake. Despite the fact that the weavers are common and something of a nuisance around the homestead, the tenacious little warrior received cheers of approval. Nobody voiced the fact that we were
all convinced we were witnessing the last minutes of the brave little bird. The Boomslang casually inspected nest after nest to the terror of the entire community of weavers. Our one little warrior flying at the slithering snake over and over and over again.

Every time the fiesty weaver would rest near the snake we would all breath a sigh of relief. Suddenly a blur of yellow fury and the attack was on. The Boomslang seemed so shocked that, short of puffing himself up, he would merely dodge his head out of reach of the angry weaver.

Admittedly there are many birds that impress - and for various reasons. Their beauty, their ingenuity, their skill; and yet this week for the latest feathered entry for nelinoeva@nelinoeva here's a seemingly insignificant little bird that has impressed me with its tenacity. I'm delighted to announce that no birds or nests or snakes were injured in the war. This little weaver wins as; A bird that impressed me
