What I see from my personal experience in ranked games is that severely underleveled decks rarely make it to the higher leagues earlier in the season, and that leads me to believe that without rating inflation it would be nearly impossible for those decks to earn from significantly higher leagues than their investment. If a player happens to be exceptionally skilled then having miniscule numbers of decks earning more due to play skill should not have a huge impact on the average player's earnings.
I think our disagreement is over to what extent the system should reward skill versus investment. My opinion is that it is a game and skill should be rewarded as much as it can be without breaking the economy. It is a spectrum though and I totally get where you are coming from (and this is a large part of why I will most likely be voting yes on this prop) - even with this proposal implemented, decks are still able to earn their full amount one league higher. It is just a matter of degree.
