I’ve been here a lot longer and I don’t completely understand the stuff! But then again I haven’t really bothered to investigate that much because most of those tribes/communities don’t really interest me.

I do think the danger you run in “over-tagging” is being booted from those communities for non relevant content, and then if you actually want to interact with them on a deeper level in the future you might be out of luck. I believe @sagesigma posted weekly reports around comic values, speculation, and investment to Leo and got the boot! Maybe he can clarify or give some insight on that though.

Overall I’d rather use my tags for relevant search terms, so I’d never do more than a couple “token” tags. It just looks a bit scammy to me personally. I especially hate when I see a brand new user intro post with all those tags you mentioned. Perhaps they’re just being guided by a well meaning friend who’s telling them to put them in, but it always just looks like a suspicious “farming” activity to me and steers my vote away.

I’ll admit I’m also not sure if simply tagging your posts allows them to show up on the dedicated “Tribe” front ends like LEO, PoB, and CineTV, or if they require the content to be posted through their interface. I’ll keep an eye on other comments you get to hopefully learn more myself!
