I remember when I was a child a few years ago, little was said about children with the autistic condition; people used for children with certain characteristics different from other children, terms that were not at all pleasant, because always the different or what is not known, many end up putting it aside, put it aside, ignore it, without stopping to see beyond what is seen with the naked eye, until it touches them, it is then that one tries to look for different alternatives to the health issue that one has.
But, fortunately, science has advanced much more than in the past, thank God, and we are beginning to see light at the end of the tunnel, in many health conditions at all levels, especially those related to autism, therefore, we are getting better tools to help children and people with this condition; apart from the fact that the media to the public, such as TV, radio, social networks, help information about it, reach the entire population, promoting an atmosphere of empathy and inclusion within society, that is the best.
Likewise, medical advances at all levels have made a diagnosis at an earlier age, intervening in it, first of all, the family, who are the first to begin to notice certain characteristics and even the school, which often refer the child to a specialist when they notice certain different behaviors, which alerts them and helps families to guide them to the specialist; today, it is a whole group of people, doctors, specialists, who help diagnose a child. Helping them to obtain a better quality of life, advising the families, giving them support and guidance.
In my case, I have two family friends, in which there are children with this condition and I have seen first hand their progress, at school, socially, in their activities, their interpersonal relationships with family and friends; I must say that they are extremely sensitive children, super intelligent, without malice, very loved by their families, who are always encouraging them, supporting them in their progress. I remember, in particular, the emotion of a friend, whose granddaughter is autistic and found it very difficult to express herself publicly and for the defense of her baccalaureate project, it was quite difficult for her, at one point, to stand up in front of all her teachers and other students to make her presentation.
The whole family was in that defense, but especially her younger brother, who had rehearsed with her her project defense; he was sitting in the front row supporting his sister and before she started her defense he said to her: "sister if you feel that you get stuck and nervous, just look at me and no one else, remember how we rehearsed" that made the difference in that presentation, there was a moment when she got a little stuck and her brother just said with his lips "look at me" and she on the spot focused on him and continued her presentation which was casually, about what it meant to be a person with the condition of autism, she herself was trying to explain what she lived on a daily basis. I must say that at the end of that presentation there was absolute silence and then a standing ovation from the whole student body and tears from the teachers and family.
My friend, when she told me and showed me the exhibition, because it was recorded, I could only cry with emotion and it was no wonder, I was also moved with her. So, definitely, the support of the family is very important for them to obtain their achievements, even more than the average. This teenager, already, got 20 points in all her presentation, because it was impeccable; this is one of the best testimonies I have had first hand, that everything can be for the better, so that these children and people are valued for what they are, special beings, who fill with light those around them, with their innocence and intelligence; angels in blue.
I thank my beautiful friend
