HOW TO OVERCOME SHYNESS
Shyness is a habit that arises because someone is too self conscious—( how do people see me).
Shyness affects people at some point in their life. Young people in particular exhibit this behavior, but as they grow and develop better social skills they grow out of it. Some may persist which may later develop into a serious habit.

As a young boy, during my first year in secondary school, I was faced with this challenge. I was a day student coming from home. We usually went to school in the mornings and return home after school in company of our friends.
I was a stammerer and could not speak fluently like my other friends.
This resulted in my friends taunting me and making fun of me whenever I spoke. I struggled to be accepted but I was ignored.
This treatment made me very uncomfortable in their midst and I developed low self esteem. The situation lasted for about a year until my immediate elder sister who was bolder helped me to confront my friends and encouraged me to have more confidence in myself.
In my second year I left that school to another school of my choice and consequently my life continued to grow posiitively.

Shyness is not the same as introversion. It is the fear of negative judgement while introversion is a preference for quiet, minimally stimulating environment.
Introverts draw strength from being alone while shy people are drawn into loneliness because of low self esteem.
According to Susan Cain — Bill Gate is quiet and bookish but apparently unfazed by others’ opinion of him. He is an introvert but not shy.
Shyness affects people in various ways namely:
—They exhibit unsociable behaviors and do not have many friends and as a result some people see them as self centered.
—In schools and workplaces they may find it difficult to express themselves to their colleagues, supervisors or teachers so they cannot be helped in any area they have a challenge.
—This can also effect their performances in job interviews or other presentations.
WHAT TO DO
——————-
— Avoid labels, do not labels yourself as shy or allow others to label you, rather see yourself as a unique individual that needs to grow..
—-Know your strength. Make a list of your positive qualities, recite and read them regularly in order to memorize them and say them to yourself whenever you are feeling insecure. This will remind you and straighten your belief in yourself and your self worth.
—Stop self sabotaging yourself. Do not allow your mind and talk to put you down and devalue you. Do not speak out any negative word.
— Choose relationships carefully. Relate with people who encourage and positively challenge you to achieve your dream. Avoid those that discourage and continuously point you to your past or failures.
—- Shut down your negative imaginations. Remember that people probably like you much more than you give yourself credit.
Locate any negative imaginations arising from your mind and replace them with positive thoughts.
—— Avoid bullies & teasers and keep them at a distance. They will distract you and their negative energies are not needed in your life.
—— Remember that one bad moment does not mean a bad day therefore do not take life too seriously and begin to feel that one mistake has ruined your life.
——Name the fear. Make a list and begin to plan how you are going to eliminate them and then move forward.
If you want to rise and overcome these challenges you should please practice these principles.
