"Mantaroth" Redesign- Splinterlands Art

Hello and Welcome to a new Episode of my Splinterlands Fanart Series.

Today we take a closer look at "Mantaroth"

Splinterlands new "Rebellion Set" was just announced and with it we get the 2 limited edition promo cards that will be distributed to the pre sale buyers and will not be available in any Rebellion packs later on.

Let's jump on the hype train and feature Mantaroth.

The Art Style:

I love how the style is evolving with nearly every new set. Also the frame of the card has changed. It is now more minimalistic and we can see more of the character design which is really awesome!

I think "Mantaroth" is a Minotaur. He wears heavy armor with a large bull decoration on the chest.
Its horns and the spikes on its shoulder plates stand out. I can also see he has a large broadsword.

My goal for this fanart will be to stay as close to the original design as possible.

As a first step, I always make a very rough sketch, which I then work on step by step. This step is important to lay out the scene and a clean Lineart is a good fundament for a overall finished Illustration.

Here is a rough summary of my illustration process:

Now it's time for adding the shadows in a new painting layer. First working on big shapes then working on smaller ones and blend them all together.
Now its time to add the colour pallet in another layer. At last step the very important highlights and effects are added and everything is polished with much care about details.
