In one of my latest posts, I brought up the idea of fear and how it can affect our decision making. I have been practicing the law of attraction and positive thinking for quite some time now, yet, every now and then, fear, otherwise known as "the ego," steps in.
For the longest time, I questioned why this sometimes happens. Do people ever get so good at the law of attraction and positive thinking, that they completely surpass all concepts of fear? Does this happen to everyone or just me? Why does this happen? It wasn't until I dug deeper through books and lectures that I understood this a little bit better.
According to the many LOA and positive thinking teachers, this experience is quite common. A lot of times when things get good, we stop practicing our necessary work that we once practiced to change our original ways of thinking. We stop doing things for ourselves that make us feel good. For example, we stop repeating affirmations or stop meditating as often. Each practice is different for everyone. So often, things get so good that we stop putting focus and energy on things that we previously made a priority. This allows "the ego" or negative feedback to come back into our lives and make us question our own abilities.
When this happens, it is so easy for negative thinking to ruin our thoughts. However, it is up to each of us to calm the mind and re-center to focusing on what's important. I now realize that when things get good, I need to keep up with my practice to keep clarity and the good vibes going. My practice consists of meditation, yoga, running and affirmations. For others, it could be sitting alone for ten minutes in silence or taking a walk on the beach. Whatever your practice may be, keep it up. When the ego does jump in and make you question your own abilities, know that these thoughts are only temporary. The quicker you realize why these thoughts are occurring, the quicker they can be changed.
