I completely agree with you wrt how news gets obfuscated by trendiness and ambiguity. It is almost like there is no difference between the news and late-night talk shows. I might give the BBC a pass, as they are still arrogant and misled into believing that the sun rises and sets on the British Empire, only because, on the whole, they still tend to be a news show. My biggest peeve with news, both written and televised, and, for that matter, even online articles, is that they never display or mention the date/time when cutting snippets from the whole. Considering that I might be watching that reel or short on the day of the news or many days, months, or even years later, it is really confusing to me why they cannot watermark a small date/time in the corner of their digital output. It almost feels like they welcome the obfuscation.
