Purim Holiday more than fun ! פורים לא רק שמח

Purim is a Jewish holiday.

So beautiful with a lot of fun, good food and festivals.
(some will say a lot of headache to the parents...-:) )
I will not go into the religious sources for what and why, because there must be a lot of information about it on the web.

I just want here to bring another perspective and take the holiday customs as an example of what we can achieve by the way, with our children during this welcome holiday.
Let's take the habit to wear costumes as a topic for our disscussion.

Choosing the right costume -

This process combines the search for the appropriate one and until its preparation; it is possible to expose the child to a lot of values from family members relationships to educational, all in an atmosphere of fun and enjoyment.

How do we choose the costume?

If this is a character then who is the character and what is he hiding behind and if this is a positive one then what can be learned from him and does he evoke feelings of identification with or inspiration? And if we prepare the costume by ourselves then we also can have a chance to develop the creativity and the imagination of the kids. Of course, the process must be adapted to the child's age in order to make the best of it.

My lovely grandson disguised himself as a naturalist and new lands explorer.

The costume was designed by his father and his mother (@inbarbd), including all the accessories starting with a magnifying glass, then a map, a backpack, a shirt that was designed with the logo of the National Geographic Channel, a camera and a least a real precious binoculars.
What a charming dressing up and very comfortable to wear during the half day event in his the kinder garden.
Another advantage not related to our subject.

I do not know if the child has internalized everything from his parents efforts.

All what they tried to give him during the process is there and something for sure will remain with him like how to use the mentioned equipments...

Also Who knows?

Maybe here they have planted the curiosity seed to trigger him for being the next Charles Darwin or at least the next Ferdinand Magellan of Mars .:-)
