One of the things I love about being a parent, is being able to share the things I love with my daughter as she gets older.
When she was born, I dug out my old childhood teddybear and had it restored so I could pass it down to her. My mother still had an old Mickey Mouse fork from when my brother and I were kids, so she gave me that.
Then there is my love of Lego. Miss 3 likes to "help" me pick orders and build with me when we can - we've done a few Polybags together, and she has some Duplo of her own.
She's recently taken a liking to the Disney film Frozen. I'm not thrilled about this, but I'll need to Let it Go.
Of late, she's regressed a little bit with toilet training, so we've been trying to reward the small wins like getting through a day with no accidents. Last week, on one of those good days the reward was a Frozen Lego Olaf polybag I had stashed away.
I usually get to do a lot of the building, with my helper enjoying the Dad time and getting to play with the finished product, but this time there was a fierce determination to build the Olaf figure on her own.
She was pretty happy with the finished product.
There are plenty of challenges with being a parent, but these moments make it all worthwhile.
