A lot of relationships are conditional and even with someone's mother. You spoke that a lot of the younger generations aren't going to have the means to support Boomer parents and I think that can cause resentment. They feel like their insurance policy was a bad investment.
It's sad that we live in a modern dystopia. It could always get worse but most people's retirement will be living in a 1993 Astro Van and boiling Robin eggs and eating Earth worms after we all go into Nuclear war.
