I didn't work yesterday and will have a few days off here in the coming weeks, and am noticing a drift in my heart to be distracted. Letting my mind dwell on the crypto excitement that happened yesterday, or writing, the future or finances.
None of these things are bad...but can steal my emotional presence. Taking away from my friends, kids or wife. I have had several events the last few days were its been particularly noticeable...see below...
We had a costume style birthday party with a bunch of 5-8 y/o's that were running a muck around our house. Followed by a ginger bread building house that was not big enough for the 8 little hands trying to contribute to it. It was chaos incredibly loud chaos - of which the pictures show minimally.
In all of this it is so easy to emotionally check out and ignore the youthful glee - but powerful people are present, and carry influence as a result of their ability to be fully engaged with the people they are with.
Yes, the circumstances can quickly overwhelm anyone...and I have no doubt the circumstances of family over the holidays can be challenging. Do your best not to white knuckle it or medicate the challenge...but be present, be fully engaged...
It is worth it!
