Debt is ridiculous. Ish...

This has been my perspective for a long time and I am currently getting my perspective challenged.

My understanding of debt is that you want to buy something that you can't afford, so someone that can afford it gives you some money that you have to pay them back. The only thing is you have to pay them back more then they loaned you. Then I learned about credit cards. And starting into my adulthood and realized people are carrying 10+ thousand dollars of credit card debt as a normal. Generally to pay for living expenses. Then I bought a house. And discovered that I am going to have to pay back almost double what the price is...in interest!

I don't like the visas, banks, and creditors as a result. They make the poor poorer. Generally.

Then I stumbled across this crazy dood called Robert Kiyosaki

He makes all sorts crazy statements and writes books about them - One in particular is about the quote above.

He talks about how the poor think vs how the rich think. He builds an argument about how debt/loans enable him to purchase assets/business' that increase his cashflow. While he is paying money back every month on that loan, he is generating more cashflow going into his pocket then he was before.

It's challenging my understanding. He has been highlighting my lack of financial literacy - which has been fueling my desire to learn.

Heading into 2018 - especially to all the parents out there that have higher costs on account of their kids - if finances are chaotic I would encourage you to learn a thing or too. Schools do not teach you how to be finically savvy, they teach you how to work for someone else. Ask around in your local community for some tips - I am finding that the wealthy are nearly always willing to share what they know.

The book rich dad poor dad is a great book to get this thing moving!
