Throughout existence, man have made the so-called "existential questions", that is, those questions that can not be answered and that are constantly present in the thoughts of human beings; they are related to life and the existence. We have all heard someone ask themselves: "Who are we? Where do we come from? Where are we going? What is the meaning of life?" So these questions are the classic existential doubts, which most likely will never be answered. However, I dare to raise a very important question: What is the true nature of the human being?
For the reader, perhaps this question has been answered more than once, it is always said that we are created by a superior benevolent being and each human being "is born good", despite any erratic behavior that this may have , its life in general lines, at least at key moments, it is governed by what is known and accepted socially as positive qualities: kindness, love, solidarity, empathy, honesty, respect, pacifism, etc.
In fact, this point of view is supported by religion, whatever it may be, it is spoken of the creation of man in the image and resemblance of a supreme being; A man who follows the parameters or rules dictated by this god. Thus it is said that the nature of the human being is "good".
It is also said that every action carried out by man (including scientific, artistic, cultural, architectural, etc.) has as its ultimate goal altruism and the benefit of others.
Now, if we stop to think about this, or just observe the humankind, this theory seems to be utopian; human nature seems to be totally opposite to what is believed, which can be affirmed by looking at history: within the characteristics that we can describe in the human being are hypocrisy, selfishness, lies, deceit, betrayal, hostility, aggression, vanity, envy, dishonesty, disrespect, greed, hatred, etc.
The man since its beginning has had the need to prove and impose its power on their peers, this is what drives him to do anything to dominate and conquer, regardless of the damage it may cause others, their environment and even himself. The man is carried away by the frenetic and beguiling sense of strength, wellness and greatness that aggression offers us, the feeling of victory to be able to dominate and subdue others, loves with madness the feeling of being master and lord of his environment, longs to be praised and followed by others, to be the only leader, who is given blind allegiance, without any questioning.
War is the creation and faithful companion of humanity, developing more and more until our days where there is the possibility of sweeping the existence on the face of the earth through atomic weapons, or in a more subtle way, decimate the world population through biological weapons .
There is a constant struggle in school institutions , work (even in those professions called "nobly" such as those related to health care and education), groups of friends and even within families, you can perceive a desire of destruction and discord that seems to inevitably and fatally attract man. Even the "advances for and for the neighbor" mentioned in previous lines, do not seem more than a long and fierce race to demonstrate supremacy, to leave a mark in the rest of the men, a selfish desire to be remembered as someone important that changed the course of the history of mankind.
That is why we ask ourselves: Does something compel us to act in this way? Is that "something" inherent in our existence or do some conditions in our environment force us to act in this way? Is that the cause of the eventual annihilation of the planet and humanity? and even more important: What is the true nature of the human being?
