One of my favorite strategies in low to medium mana battles is what we'll call "Redemption Abuse", which is absolutely devastating when you pair the following 3 abilities:
Redemption, rust, and weaken are synergistic abilities used in the "Redemption Abuse" tactic:
The way it works is that you put a card with redemption in the front, and possibly a second one right behind it or in the back if you expect sneak attacks. Then you pack your team with cards that have weaken to drive down enemy health. To be extra safe you can also bring in a card with rust (otherwise the redemption will be stopped by armor).
Right from the start, your debuffs will flood the enemy, and then once they kill your card that has redemption it's like committing Harakiri!
There's a very useful tool I'd like to share which lets you quickly and easily filter & sort through cards. It's what I use to quickly find cards that have the abilities I want, for example redemption. It's called the Splinterlands Index and you can search for any term (including abilities) and filter by what you want (rarity, type, or splinter) and then sort the table to quickly view, for example, the cheapest redemption cards out there:
Using this tool you can quickly find if it's possible to make teams based on synergistic abilities. For redemption abuse here are great cards to use by splinter:
Death is clearly the splinter of choice for this tactic, with the MVPs being Cursed Slimeball, Undead Priest, Death Elemental, and Weirding Warrior.
While it's certainly possible to do the Redemption Abuse with Splinters other than Death, it's harder. However, I can say I've been successful doing it with Fire (Exploding Rats, Goblin Shaman, Doctor Blight) and Earth (Venari Spellsmith, Djinn Biljka, Queen Mycelia, Doctor Blight), so it's definitely doable. The hardest is probably Life, but remember you can always bring those neutral cards to fill in.
That's it for this article. Hope you enjoyed and good luck dishing out Redemption Abuse to your enemies! If you enjoyed it, please consider voting and commenting below, as well as following me so you get notified when I publish my next post.
