I was grooming myself after a hard morning of sunbeam-napping, window-bird surveillance, and dignified tail flicks, and this idea popped into my head that I think would be a fun way to connect Land & Battles in Splinterlands, so I wanted to quickly document it here.
The concept is to allow players a new "Stadium" building which could be built on certain land plots and which would have the following characteristics (note that all numbers are theoretical):
Each region's Stadium could have a different look, and could perhaps even be customized by the player to some degree.
When a battle takes place in a player-owned stadium, it would be indicated in the battle screen. In the example above I show it next to the "Modern Ranked" text, though there may be other better placements. This would also show in the pre-battle screen.
In the post-battle screen we'd show where the battle took place, as well as the Glint earnings that the stadium-owner earned.
Currently land players have no access to Glint; that's only for battle mages. This would serve as a way to give access to landowners, while not introducing new resources or causing large economic harm. It would also be a way for even a single plot owner to be able to meaningfully gain from their plot, particularly if there aren't many other stadiums in circulation.
A few other bonus (and more complicated) ideas:
For fun, and also to illustrate the fact that generating hundreds or even thousands of these stadium illustrations is quite feasible, here are several more AI-generated images in the Splinterlands style that could resemble stadiums from different parts of Praetoria:
Although these are by no means perfect, I think they illustrate that with the use of AI and with some care, it would be possible to create thousands of fairly distinct permutations rather easily. These were created using Midjourney, using one of the original Splinterlands arena illustrations as reference, and providing guidelines for different types of themes, colors, and tones.
Would love to hear what people think of this idea. Would you consider building a stadium on one of your plots of land? What other benefits or fun elements could be added to make this idea even better?
