Hi!
How are you doing? I'm patiently waiting for the end of the season and the opening of my +50 packs. To pass the time I thought I write a Splinterlands post and take part in the Social Media Challenge.
This is my second post down the memory lane where I'll be covering my favorite Untamed monsters. The first one was about the brutal War Chaang and you can check it out here!
But today we will focus on Beatrix Ironhand, a ranged earth splinter unit with the ability to fight in the front row.
Costing 6 mana points, an epic Beatrix is pretty fast and strong. On level 1 she has 2 ranged attack points, 4 speed, 5 health, and that Close Range ability. She will have Thorns on level 3 and Cripple on level 5 if you decide to upgrade.
Since the release of Chaos Legion packs and with Obsidian as a summoner, I began to use more magic monsters with the earth splinter and unfortunately kinda forgot Beatrix. So that was pretty much the situation for a long until yesterday when I had this weird battle in the forest...
My daily focus was on Dragon when I came upon this interesting combination of rulesets in a low, 19 mana battle.
| Rulesets | ||||
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Equalizer: The initial Health of all Monster is equal to that of the Monster on either team with highest base Health. | ||||
| Keep Your Distance: Monsters with melee attack may not be used in battles. | ||||
Let's take a look at the teams first!
As a summoner, my opponent chose a level 4 Lyanna Natura who will boost their monster's health by 1 point. Mycelic Slipspawn was put as a tank. This monster has a Taunt ability so all of my units would be targeting it. This thing has 10 health points so because of the Equalizer ruleset it will also determine the health of all other units, including mine.
The second spot belonged to Djinn Biljka. This nasty creature has two abilities, Camouflage and Void. A wise decision because no melee monsters are allowed so there's a good chance that I'll go with magic. Void will then reduce the damage I make. The vampiric Iza The Fanged will hold the third and last spot. With Sneak she will be targeting my last monster and with Scavenger ability she'll gain +1 health when lose a unit.
As I mentioned, my daily focus was on Dragon so I Byzantine Kitty as a summoner. I know, it will take quite a big piece out of the mana pile since it costs 7 mana points. Normally I wouldn't have chosen her for this kind of low mana battle but because of the Equalizer ruleset, I can choose cheaper monsters with (probably) quite many health points! Kitty's Heal ability will keep the one in front alive even longer. Kitty will also add two speed points and a True Strike ability to my monsters.
Since there were not going to be melee monsters on the field I thought there might be some magic monsters up against me. Therefore I put Failed Summoner in the first spot. Despite being unable to attack himself, this guy will use his Magic Reflect ability to cast some damage back to the enemy. Now deal with that!
The next one up is our unforgettable, forgotten Beatrix Ironhand. I was thinking that if the Failed Summoner would fail again, Beatrix would step up front and continue to fight with her Close Range ability. She's also fast with the 4 speed points and when Kitty will add two more she'll be even faster and can dodge opponents' ranged attacks.
Last in the line I got Wood Nymph. She has Tank Heal ability so with Kitty they'll both be healing the Failed Summoner. Now if they cannot drop her it can get really frustrating for the opponent to wipe out the ever-healing tank.
This is how the setup looks like. Click this link to watch how it went down!
For a couple of rounds, they tried to bring down the Failed Summoner but in the fifth round, he is healthier than ever. Iza was targeting the Wood Nymph and eventually got her out of the game, while my team dropped the Mycelic Slipspawn.
Going into the sixth round I was a bit worried cos the blood-hungry Iza would now be targeting Beatrix, my only monster left who knows how to attack. Beatrix herself would focus on the Djinn thing.
Beatrix was eventually able to destroy the Djinn and bring Iza in front. Despite Iza having a massive amount of health, Beatrix will now kick the hell out of the vampire.
