If crypto is a threat, and it probably is the biggest ever, to the banking cartel, how would they deal with it.
Perhaps lots of negative media sharing FUD.
Perhaps selling off the market in a way to keep it under control - money is no object.

But when that fails, what next.

Stellar has been showing signs of becoming a common everyday use type coin, for P2P transactions.

Strange that it was just getting going, and now has been bought.
By whom? For waht purpose?
The new owners state they will be hands off on the coin.
So why own the company?
Perhaps to control the flow of this crypto?
