After hearing about FB & Twitter hacks / giveaways that gave little value to user data, it is disappointing to read that 250K Aussies may be in the same boat. Name, address Birthdate etc all in a company database that was breached.

In a day & age where even the NSA is not impervious to attacks, why risk having personal data on a company server?
What is to be gained?

ID theft is the next boom industry, and basic details are all that are required.
Once stolen how does one prove who they are? or are not?
