While the whole industry has felt the weight of the SEC and other regulatory bodies, and it well be of benefit for the Crypto world to define some rules on conduct etc, it in some ways goes against the decentralised nature or coins.
What is interesting is when a gov body, setup to control institutions, comes out in support of a centralise Crypto body to regulate the industry.
Why would they call for this?
Perhaps they are unable to do it themselves?
Perhaps they feel dealing with a single industry body would make it easier for them to force regulations?
Perhaps it is just an admission they they recognise the basic concepts of decentralisation, and they know that mean they can't control it's progress & development.
Maybe JPM can sign up with them and offer ideas or frameworks for regulation, since as a bank that has released a coin, they are 'experts' now. :-)
