As the world gets set to enter the New year, the Chinese are about to land on the dark side of the moon.
Which raises the question, why does the moon have a dark side?
It orbits the earth every 28 days, as the earth orbits the sun.
Yet the earth also rotates on it's axis every 24 hours.
How is it that the moon is essentially in a geo static orbit around the earth?
Fixed and locked into a gravitational pull to the earth?
But is that enough to stop it rotating?
Anyhow the Chinese are using a relay sattelite so hopefully we will all get to see the dark side, not long after the seeing the new year in, but in a good way.
