Recycling: The process of converting waste materials into new materials and objects. It is an alternative to "conventional" waste disposal that can save material and help lower greenhouse gas emissions .
Recycling can prevent the waste of potentially useful materials and reduce the consumption of fresh raw materials, thereby reducing: energy usage, air pollution (from incineration), and water pollution (from landfilling).
Recycling is a key component of modern waste reduction and is the third component of the "Reduce, Reuse, and Recycle" waste hierarchy.
Recyclable materials include many kinds of glass, paper, and cardboard, metal, plastic, tires, textiles, and electronics. The composting or other reuse of biodegradable waste—such as food or garden waste—is also considered recycling.
Materials to be recycled are either brought to a collection center or picked up from the curbside, then sorted, cleaned, and reprocessed into new materials destined for manufacturing.
PROJECT RECYCLE PH
Rivers State is predominantly water-filled. Our plastic and aluminum waste continues to pose a threat to the water bodies which accounts about 45% source of livelihood of her citizens.
Recycle ph city was born out of a passion for the environment and the urge to leave the world a little better than I met it.. We have activities/programs ranging from clean up exercises, sentizations, collection of recyclables, awareness creation through school advocacy etc..
We are a group of passionate environmentalists hence all our activities are based on voluntarism in the mean time.. we are looking to spread this campaign on the benefits of recycling as the most sustainable means of waste management to every resident in Port Harcourt city and beyond, so we need as many people on board as possible if we're going to achieve that goal.
