Hello everyone,
It is Monday again. I did not really have much of a weekend but yet again I did. I am going to give you a couple examples of when you have setbacks in life, minor or major, my two examples are minor really. Don't let those setbacks stop you.
Use those setbacks as motivation, a way to solve a problem. To learn from them and use that learning to become better at what you are doing.
The first thing that got in my way and I thought it was going to setback my renovation was having to go do firstaid for my work place both on Saturday and Sunday. Also I don't like spending time I don't have to spend away from my wife.
But with the renovation at the moment, it is painting, fixing the floor, minor stuff. So after my firstaid training I came home and did what I had to do to do the renovation work. I got everything done and more than I wanted to get done with it this weekend.
The firstaid did not even interfer with my Hive stuff. As I desided to still get up and 5:45am even though I did not have to leave the house till 7:30 or 7:45.
The second example is blockchain related. Specifically the Chia blockchain. As my regular readers will know I have gotten serious about building my mining rig and mining Chia.
Well, I ran into a few issues the last few days. The first one was my desktop told me that my C drive was running out of space. I thought how is that possible?
First it turns out the desktop only got a 500GB hard drive. When I started investigating I found that the Chia database was upto 250GB and growing everyday. I run a full node I think they are around 4.2 million blocks now.
So I started researching. I found I could move the database to and external harddrive. I started. I moved it to a 6TB harddrive. Lots of room for years. I went to the config(yaml) file and did what had to be done.
I started my miner back up. And fuck. The blockchain started from block zero. The next mistake was I had already deleted the DB from the C drive so I had no back up. And to SYNC to the full node data base will take at least a week. That means a week of no mining.
More research. I found you could download a snapshot of the database. So I did that. It was big. It was rarred. I had to unrar it. That took time.
This morning before starting this post, I went to my desk top, moved the DB to the proper folder. And started my miner. I was so proud when it started up with no errors. I had the config file done correctly.
The sad part is the latest snapshot only brought me upto about 690,000 blocks. So I still got about just under 4 million blocks to go.
Lessions learned. Setbacks. But I did not let any of it stop me. I continued forward.
You should do the same here on Hive and on Leo. Don't let things stop you. Don't let setbacks stop you. Use them as motivation. Learn from them and get better.
