This is my #monomad entry number 01.

Based on BRMS website here are some of the benefits of blood donation:

  1. Reduced risk of hemochromatosis
  2. Helps in lowering the risk of cancer
  3. Reducing the risk of heart and liver ailments caused by the iron overload in the body
  4. Reduces the weight of the donors
  5. Stimulates the production of new blood cells and in turn, helps in maintaining good health

Who can donate blood?

According to the Department of Health (DOH) , the following are basic requirements of potential blood donor

  1. Weight: At least 110 lbs (50 kg).
  2. Blood volume collected will depend mainly on you body weight.
  3. Pulse rate: Between 60 and 100 beats/minute with regular rhythm.
  4. Blood pressure: Between 90 and 160 systolic and 60 and 100 diastolic.
  5. Hemoglobin: At least 125 g/L.

Before the actual blood extraction a volunteer donor will be checked using those requisites and if he/she will passed on that the extraction will proceed.

I already donated blood thrice. Those were when I was in Qatar. If given a chance to donate blood again here in the Philippines I am very glad to do so.

Thank you for your time reading my blog.
