The genius engineer of the HANS device that has saved many lives in motorsport, passed away at the aged 75.
Hubbard, a professor of materials science and mechanics, conceived the HANS device in collaboration with his brother-in-law, Jim Downing.
While it took some time for their pioneering work to be accepted in racing, the HANS has subsequently become required equipment in many race categories.
Hubbard was heavily involved in road safety long before he developed the HANS.
His contribution to racing will save lives for thousands of years.
