Frost's bolete, apple bolete, Exsudoporus frostii, f.k.a. Boletus frostii, dinner.
Found a good bunch of these on a walk with the kids tonight. Not the best mushrooms when it comes to dinner fare, but edible, and free. These are one of my favorite boletes to find with their bizarre resin-y type substance that they exude from their pores when young, and their gnarly looking reticulated stipes, and they'll taste alright in some burritos tomorrow night.
