A quick video showing what Coinbase looks like and how to set up an account. This is the first step you'll need to take if you're interested in getting into the cryptocurrency markets, Coinbase acts as a bridge between cryptoland and the old financial world of banks.

Check their policies if you're wanting to use a credit card for the first purchase, things are rapidly changing in the current environment and credit cards are one area that seems to be trying to stop the flow of money from dollars into cryptocurrency. Debit cards should work without an issue, although they limit the amount you can deposit with a card to a few hundred dollars until you've gone through the full validation process.

If you link your bank account and use that option to purchase, expect the coins you're buying to take several days prior to being available. This is because the dollars from your bank take that long to make it through the financial system and into the coinbase system. The price you pay won't change, but the coins won't be available until the funds get verified and secured.

Coinbase is really the firsts big Digital Asset bank, they operate the same way and with similar regulations and requirements. They are also expensive because of this. I use coinbase as a Dollar to Crypto conversion tool, they also offer a debit card which allows you to spend your BTC balance anywhere credit cards are accepted, if that's what you're into.

Coinbase offers BTC, BCH, ETH, & LTC only. If you're wanting to get involved with the other options then this would just be the first step.
