Using the proper tags on a HIVE post can mean the difference between a big payout and a crippling downvote. Thankfully, things are a little more liberal over on the Twitter side of things. Far too often we see people tag farming and trying to earn those second layer tokens from a tribe that their post has zero connection to.
When called out on it they usually feign (or not) ignorance and correct their behavior. There is the rare occasion where someone shifts into argument mode and they take you down a convoluted path as to how the tag relates to their content.
As I said though, on Twitter you don't have to worry about that so much. That doesn't mean that picking the right tags isn't important though.
It's only recently that I started sharing my posts on Twitter. Like a lot of people I started doing it because of the POSH program. Getting those extra eyes (and votes) on your post is never a bad thing. Now, it is something I do out of habit more than anything. The upvotes were pretty small in the grand scheme of things, so it isn't like I was milking the system or getting rich off of it.
That doesn't mean I don't still use the #posh tag when I Tweet.
Besides the recognition from POSH, I was hoping that Tweeting my posts would also be a good way to get more eyes on them and ultimately bring some new viewers and eventually users onto HIVE. So far that hasn't been the case, but that doesn't mean I am going to stop trying.
I typically try to tag HIVE and LEO Finance specifically in my posts. I also use POSH as I have said before, and then I like to try to include one non crypto related tag. Something that might have a better chance of reaching the general public and causing them to take the dive into blockchain blogging.
That generic tag doesn't always happen though because I know there is a bit of a stigma over using too many tags and I don't want to scare people away before the even given HIVE a chance.

In addition to that, I have also started using the #hiveisalive and #hiveblogshare tags in my Tweets. I have noticed that these do bring some more eyes to my posts or at the very least to my Twitter account. Sadly, I think it is mostly people who are already involved in Hive or blockchain, so although it is reaching people, it isn't quite reaching the people I had hoped yet.
About a week ago, I started adding another tag to my Tweets that I am pretty proud of. I am not claiming to have invented it, but I haven't seen it used anywhere else, so for now I am going to call it my own.
Very similar to play2earn that is all the rage right now, but also very on the nose about what HIVE/LEO is and what it can do for you.
I can't say as though I have gotten more views than I would have by using this tag, but I think it is something that can grab an audience outside of blockchain/cryptocurrency and bring them in. In the future I might have to write an actual on-boarding post to use in tandem with this tag and see if I can recruit some new users.
I think it would be cool if we could get more people using this tag on their Tweets. If you are into that sort of thing. I know it is a pretty tough ask trying to reach people outside of the crypto community via Twitter. There are many in the past with greater reach than me who have met with lackluster results, but I think that every little bit helps.
I'm not saying you need to use it every post, but maybe once in a while we could get the #blog2earn tag out there on Twitter and make it synonymous with HIVE/Leo. Wouldn't that be cool?
