You should maybe check if there are any used book stores around you could go to. I know a lot of times the new bookstores and the chains are able to draw bigger names, but the used bookstores don't get a lot of love. Being able to do a signing or just a meet and greet at one of those smaller venues could be a good stepping stone. My wife and I are always kind of disappointed when we are traveling and find a bookstore only to find they only sell new books. I like being able to pick between new books and used ones. If you had a few copies you could "burn", you could try selling them back to like salvation army or whatever. Then leave a thing inside asking people to review it.
