Twenty Twenty Six is officially here, and while I still hold fast to my feeling that New Year's resolutions are basically pointless, I have hope that I can do things a little differently in the new year. If nothing else, 2025 gave me a lot of time to look at my crypto holdings and lament the fact that pretty much all of them were not doing what I had hoped or expected them to do.
I think we all felt a bit of that as we waited for an alt season that effectively never came. I'm choosing to look at the bright side, and as I said, it gave me time to look at my holdings and try to make some decisions moving forward.
The sad thing is, I had already made some soft targets for this next cycle, but "shocker", we never even came close to those soft targets. With those hopes and dreams squarely in the past, I'm not looking at how I can start to consolidate my holdings to just a handful of tokens.
This introspection includes my HIVE based investments as well. I took some advice from the other day and I pulled the 171 Rift Watchers packs off the market that I had for sale. I opened all of them, and ended up with just a fraction of the Rift Watchers collection that you see above.
According to Peak Monsters, that equals just about $270 worth of value using list prices, $200 of value using market prices. 68,435 CP, and 21,166 PP when all is said and done. I don't even want to think about how much I spent to get those 171 packs originally. I have a feeling it was probably nowhere close to the current value.
With my new found cards added to my collection and combined, I set about trying to figure out if there was a way I could maximize my land production. Sadly, I feel like I made things worse than they were previously. I wish there was a simple tool where you could just click a single button and it would apply your cards accordingly. Of course, that probably would take a lot of the fun out of it, but with my seven plots relegated to only producing wood and grain, I don't think I am getting the full Splinterlands land experience anyway.
I tried playing around with the https://land.spl-stats.com/ site, which is where I pulled the opening image from, but I don't really understand what I am looking at or how to read any of the metrics on there.
I'll be the first to admit, part of it has to do with my brain still being in a fog from being sick over Christmas. Post Viral Fatigue I think they call it, but the other half is probably just my ADHD making it difficult for me to focus on concepts that I am not overly excited about.
It would appear according to this image from the dashboard I am going to eventually run out of Grain. I actually don't understand how that is possible because I have some of my highest value PP cards on my grain plots to keep their production at a level where I can continuously pull in wood.
I also realized I have about 5000 research sitting out there doing nothing since I can no longer produce research after the launch of 1.5 or whichever "Lands" update it was that killed research on any plot.
Part of me feels like I should just pull all of my cards off land and start over from the begging, but that seems like a lot of work and I have a feeling I might not end up any better off than I am right now. Even scarier, what happens if I end up worse off?
I pull everything off and start over again?
I think the thing that bugs me the most is it shouldn't be this stressful. I thought land was going to be fun, but it honestly feels like a second job at this point. I kind of wish I had sold off some of my other plots to at least get me to the point where I can be making a little of each resource. That way I would at least be able to do some of the new things that the game has to offer like land cards and things like that.
At this point, I am fully able to admit that I have no clue what I am doing. I'm not ready to let go of my assets, but I am ready to let go of the idea that I can do this without some guidance from the community.
Please give me some thoughts and ideas about what I should do next. Am I totally screwing the pooch on this the way I currently have it set up?
