The NFL regular season is officially in the books, and now all we have to look forward to is the wild card games and the playoffs. I'll obviously be entering the post season with a little less enthusiasm than I have in the past given the fact that the Lions are out of the running. Despite that, they had a pretty decent showing yesterday versus the Chicago Bears who have been on a bit of a warm streak lately.
I hesitate to say hot streak because it isn't like they are blowing their opponents out of the water. In fact, many of their wins have come in the last few minutes or seconds of the game. Despite that fact, they find themselves in the playoffs while my team sits at home. I guess you can't argue with the facts.
So yeah, the Lions beat the Bears 19 to 16 yesterday, but I don't think it really mattered because I am pretty sure the Bears had a solid lock on the number 2 seed in the playoffs after Minnesota took down Green Bay.
Somehow though the Packers still managed to make it to the Wild Card and now the Bears have to face them next week.
Tampa Bay beat Carolina 16 to 14 in an insanely rainy game. If you caught any of it on Saturday you will know what I am talking about.
Seattle beat San Francisco 13 to 3, Atlanta took down New Orleans 19 to 17, and the Browns beat the Bengals 20 to 18.
As I said, the Vikings nearly blanked the Packers 16 to 3, The Giants killed the Cowboys 34 to 17, and The Jaguars did the same to the Titans 41 to 7.
Houston edged out the Colts 38 to 30 despite the Texans dominating most of the game early, The Bills beat the Jets 35 to 8, and the Broncos took down the Chargers 19 to 3.
The Raiders had a rare win this season against the Chiefs beating them 14 to 12, The Rams took down the Cardinals 37 to 20, and The Patriots beat the Dolphins 38 to 10.
Finally, we had the Commanders take down the Eagles 24 to 17, and The Steelers squeaked out a win versus the Ravens 26 to 24.
So as I said, that leads us to the Wildcard games this coming weekend. Two games on Saturday, three games on Sunday and one game on Monday. It's going to be a busy weekend! Things start off with the Rams vs the Panthers on Saturday. I'm honestly surprised that the Panthers made it into the playoffs. Remember two or three years ago when they were basically the laughing stock of the NFL (and my posts)?
The Packers take on the Bears Saturday night, then we have Bills vs. Jaguars, 49ers vs Eagles, and Chargers vs. Patriots.
Finally, Monday night we have Texas vs Steelers.
These are my picks, based solely on personal preference, not on who I think is the better team.
Rams, Bears, Bills, 49ers, Patriots, Texans.
Fingers crossed that's the way it plays out.
