Swamps are a habitat for some living things, such as fish, egrets, various other types of birds, and also mangrove crabs. In areas like this also live monitor lizards, various types of molluscs and shellfish, and insects.

In certain areas, swamps are also a habitat for crocodiles and snakes and other vicious animals. Not only function as a habitat for wildlife, swamps are also useful for humans as rainwater storage areas, freshwater fish cultivation, and natural water sources needed by surrounding plants.
