On this beach there are many coral reefs where the fish hide from humans or natural predators. The name of the beach also refers to the condition of the landscape, Ujong Kareung. Ujong means tip and Kareung means coral.
The condition of this beach is on the lips of the Strait of Malacca, very strategic in the map of the world's shipping sea lanes. In front of that beach, far across from the ocean, is Pulo Weh. Later, the area was better known as Sabang, a place that has stunning marine tourism.
Its strategic location has also made several regional rulers in the past erect several defense buildings in this area to guard the gates of the Malacca Strait. Likewise, Japan, in the Pacific war, had built fortifications along the coastline to ward off the arrival of the NICA.
Now, the beach is a little deserted. Only crabs, hermit crabs and clownfish play on the rocks. The rest, some local residents tried to scavenge between the rocks to take home.
