Well, I missed posting this by the end of Tuesday in my part of the world, but hopefully, I made the deadline in your part.
This week’s recommendations are funk songs, and the first one is a favorite of mine by Sly and the Family Stone. Something about this song reminds me of Portoisehead, but on a totally different sonic level. Give it a lesson and see what you think of my comparison.

This next song, as hard as I try, I can’t remember how or where I first heard, but I know that I immediately looked it up after hearing about it and bookmarked it for keeping afterward. If memory serves me well, Apple and the Three Oranges were an LA based soul group. Most of the songs I have heard by them actually sound nothing like this one, which is a song that really could be made into a funk anthem. For me, it’s the song that I want to hear on a Friday night when I’m on my way out the door with all my friends.

Last is a song by the late great Gil Scott Heron. It has a good rhythm and a bright feel making it great for a sunny spring drive through the countryside.

Well, that’s all for this week. Apologies for the rush. @ablaze, thanks as always.
