  1. On a hill far away stood an old rugged cross,
    The emblem of suff’ring and shame,
    And I love that old cross where the Dearest and Best
    For a world of lost sinners was slain.
    ...
    So I’ll cherish the old rugged cross,
    Till my trophies at last I lay down;
    I will cling to the old rugged cross,
    And exchange it some day for a crown.

    ...
  2. Oh, that old rugged cross, so despised by the world,
    Has a wondrous attraction for me;
    For the dear Lamb of God left His glory above,
    To bear it to dark Calvary.
    ...
  3. In the old rugged cross, stained with blood so divine,
    A wondrous beauty I see;
    For ’twas on that old cross Jesus suffered and died,
    To pardon and sanctify me.

There is nothing rather I'll glory in, only in the old rugged cross, I've found out that not carrying the cross is the same as not following Christ, since Christ has died for all, it is tentative for us so called Christian to seek him and go His way, the way of the cross.

The fact that blood stained the cross shows a lot, it shows that the death of Christ on the cross is also our death, it shows we are already redeemed by the blood, a testament that all our sins are washed off, all our weakness, sickness, diseases is gone, hallelujah! The blood on the cross shows that, if at any time you doubt what he does for you, just look at the cross, you'll see his blood stains there.

The cross is also attractive, I mean, how could you explain a man who is lifted above all for all to see like the snake in Moses time, a superstar and a healer at the same time, look and be saved, look and be free from sin and self, look and live. Who wouldn't want to look up there, up there where there is heaven on earth, and the connection between here and there is the cross, the old rugged cross.
