Reddit Raiders Rush to Save Wendy’s
Just when you thought the fast-food wars couldn’t get any weirder, Wendy’s ($WEN) has officially joined the meme-stock hall of fame. Reddit users are flooding in with calls to “save the square burgers,” and the stock is blasting off like it’s 2021 all over again.
Not long ago I wrote several Posts about the struggling burger chain and how its biggest headache has always been management, or rather, the lack of strong, decisive leadership. That diagnosis still holds. The core problem hasn’t gone away: Wendy’s continues to show virtually no meaningful growth. Same-store sales are stagnant, traffic is soft, and the brand feels stuck in neutral while competitors keep innovating. The interim CEO is still trying to get a grip on the business, but real strategic clarity and execution muscle remain missing.
Yet here we are: Reddit’s collective hype machine has taken over. Diamond-handed degens are piling in, memes are flying, and the share price is doing its best impression of a vertical launch. Classic memestock behavior: fundamentals take a backseat while the narrative and short squeeze dreams take the wheel.
Will this Reddit rescue mission actually fix Wendy’s long-term issues? Probably not. But in the short term, it’s one spicy chicken sandwich of a rally.
