The Natural History Museum blew us away! We spent several hours there with the children, and what it has to offer is truly extraordinary.
The so called NHM Vienna is one of the largest and most important natural history museums in the world. It was opened in 1889 and is located on Maria-Theresien-Platz, directly opposite the Kunsthistorisches Museum.
The museum houses around 30 million objects, including world-famous pieces such as the Venus of Willendorf, the largest meteorite ever found, extensive fossil collections, and a large mineral collection. The mineral collection alone fills three large rooms. The exhibitions cover topics ranging from the origin of the universe to the evolution and diversity of animals and plants to humans.
Admission is free for children and young people, which is a great incentive. For adults, it costs €18. We can definitely recommend it, but you should either bring plenty of time with you or concentrate on 2-3 areas. Otherwise, you risk information overload.
My personal highlights were the gemstone jewelry on display, the mineral collection, and the building itself. Amazing!
Who has been there before? What do you think of it?

Was haltet ihr davon?
