The Power of Quality

Allianz stock has done it: After more than two decades, it has climbed back above the €400 mark. The last time we saw this price level was in 2000. In the last 5 years alone, the stock price has risen by more than 80 percent. That’s a strong performance for a supposedly boring insurance company.

CEO Oliver Bäte and his team are primarily responsible for this comeback, but outgoing Supervisory Board member Michael Diekmann also made a decisive contribution in the years leading up to it. The company was streamlined and consistently realigned for the digital age.

One of my largest individual positions is now up 120% since I bought it in 2018. On top of that, there are the generous annual dividends. In the long run, quality really does pay off.
