I agree, but action simply had to be taken against some of these spammers/harvesters. At some point there were thousands and tenthousands of tips per hour going through a whole carefully set up network only meant (and the only activity on the accounts) for tip-harvesting. It created a lot of spam on the blockchain, and a drain of resources.
A tried my best at that time to make sure that we could stop it, which we did. And since your question now is the first remark that came in after it being in production for over a year, I think it wasn't done that bad ;-)
