Peter grew up in a poor but humble background. He had two siblings a boy name Jerry and a girl name Esther. And even though his parents were poor, they instilled a character that was good in him and his siblings.
At the age of twelve, Peter had a dream of becoming a lawyer, and his parents despite their poverty managed to see him through his studies but on the day of his graduation from the University they died. The unforeseen event put peter and his siblings in a state of shock and dismay. But still, they kept pushing.
Jerry and Esther had just gained admission into the University that year which meant they were looking up to Peter to foot their bills. So peter began his struggle as a barrow pusher working in the streets of Lagos and chasing after yellow buses with goods he could carry and get paid for the effort. He continued with his hustle for about a year and was beginning to find it difficult to feed himself as most of the money he made was sent straight to his brother and sister for their upkeep. One morning he woke up to continue his usual hustle when he found out that his barrow had been stolen, he had left it outside his apartment but had forgotten to secure it due to tiredness. So, walked around the streets of Lagos tired, confused, and helpless.
He had already given up hope and was sitting by the side of the road dressed in rags that echoed his poverty to the world when a black highlander Jeep packed in Infront of him. The owner of the car stepped out and as fate would have it, he was one of the wealthiest men in the country, Mr. Aliko.
Mr. Aliko walks toward Peter and handed him a bundle of money mistaking him for a beggar. Peter was very shocked by the incident that he started pinching himself to see if it was a dream. He watched as the man bought twelve cartons of drink which were being loaded into his vehicle. He walked to the man to thank him for the handout but Mr. Aliko thought he came to ask for some drinks too, so he ordered the sales rep to give him a carton of any drink of his choice. Peter was bewildered but humbly declined. He thanked the man for his generosity but declined, he also returned the bundle of money to the man who felt a little bit shocked and embarrassed at Peter's tenacity. He began to question peter, asking him if he does not need the money, Peter then replied to him,"sir, it's not like I don't want this money, I need it...but accepting it will only solve one of my problems and open doors for a thousand more to come in. Sir, you see, I'm a graduate of the University of Lagos, I graduated at top of my class, a first-class honor in law but still, I have nothing to show for it. My parents died just a few days before my convocation leaving me in charge of my siblings and their upkeep which I gallantly carried on my shoulders with the help of my barrow pushing business. But this morning even that was taken away from me as the barrow was stolen.
I know this money would help me buy a new barrow and begin my work again but sir, I beg of you to connect me with a job that is worthy of my certificate and my qualifications, sir, please help me become a lawyer..", Mr. Aliko was blown away by Peter's speech that he gave him an extra bundle of cash and his phone number telling peter to call him when he gets a phone so they can discuss. Mr. Aliko drove off leaving Peter with two bundles of cash and a carton of Pepsi.
That night, peter called Mr. Aliko with the new phone he bought. Mr. Aliko was pleased to hear from him and invited him over to his place.
The next morning, a black Range Rover stopped over at the same spot where Mr. Aliko met Peter the previous day and Peter saw that it was Mr. Aliko's driver from the previous day. He entered the car and then they drive off.
Mr. Aliko's house was very big and beautiful almost like a mansion. He had a lot of cars parked in his compound and the compound was extremely large. Peter was welcomed by the house help who escorted him to the living room where Mr. Aliko was waiting for him.
They had a little chat and got to know each other much better and by the end of the conversation, as fate would have it, peter got a Job as a personal lawyer to a wealthy man Mr. Aliko.
Mr. Aliko offered Peter the task of managing one of his breweries in Lagos and reporting all cases related to the brewery to him.
Peter thanked and praised Mr. Aliko with every energy, humility, and tears in him.
The next couple of months were like magic to him, he was now living in a huge house that belong to him, he had a car of his own and his brothers and sisters were doing very well financially and educationally. His true beauty began to glow and women started falling for him one of the women was Mrs. Aliko, the wife of Mr. Aliko.
Mrs. Aliko was a fair, slender, and beautiful woman, she was much younger than Mr. Aliko and was no stranger to the activities of extramarital affairs.
Ever since Peter began his work for Mr. Aliko he had been reporting the financial cases and the legal cases to Mr. Aliko by the end of every month but Mr. Aliko was mostly never around. So, most times when Peter arrived he would have an awkward encounter with Mr. Aliko's wife who would waste no time throwing herself on him and trying to get him to sleep with her.
Every time he came to visit, she would beg him saying "just once, please, just once...I promise I won't tell".
Peter began to hate his visit to Mr. Aliko's house because Mr. Aliko was his boss and his wife was becoming adamant and irresistible day by day. So he decided to ask Mr. Aliko to change the venue on his next visit.
Peter arrived that fateful day at Mr. Aliko's house for the monthly report. He then walked into the house to find Mr. Aliko's wife having sex with her houseboy. This whole situation threw him off balance, now noticing his presence, Mrs. Aliko's wife pushed the house boy away from on top of her and ran towards Peter she begged him not to tell her husband. But he refused and made his way out when she held him by his waist from behind and began to scream, rape!.
He broke free from her grip and ran outside leaving his jacket and shoes in her possession.
He got into his car and drove off.
That night, his home was raided by the police and he has whisked away.
At the police station, he was visited by Mr. Aliko who expressed his disappointment in him and fired him on the spot, and Mrs. Aliko who flaunted her victory in his face.
Peter was later charged in court for raping Mr. Aliko's wife and causing her emotional damages. A day was set for the hearing, and Peter who had never set foot in a courtroom before decided to represent himself.
On the day of the hearing, Mr. Aliko's wife had paid her lawyer to do everything to turn the tables on Peter at all costs.
During the hearing, peter was put on the stand where he took an oath to say the truth and nothing but the truth. He was then asked who Mr. Aliko was to him, replied honestly and truthfully saying that Mr. Aliko was his boss.
He was later asked what his relationship with his boss's wife was which he replied none.
Then the lawyer wasn't ready to give up, further hammering some questions that became un-answerable to Peter making him seem guilty Infront of the courtroom. The one that particularly threw him off guard was when he was asked why he kept visiting without calling to know if Mr. Aliko was present or not.
It felt as though he was about to lose the case, the evidence pointed in his direction and he had nothing but words to back up his claim until an idea clicked into his mind.
He called the houseboy on the stand and burst him open with a couple of questions that he skillful dodged and then he called Mrs. Aliko to the stand, he asked her a couple of questions which she also skillfully answered until Peter revealed a one-time email which Mrs. Aliko had sent to him, she had asked him about it previously and he claimed to have not received because he lost the password to his email account.
But there it was, projected live on the screen in the courtroom, an email that contained nude pictures of Mrs. Aliko sent to Peter by Mrs. Aliko, and this caused the entire courtroom to erupt with a murmur. She tried to deny it until he revealed the videos she sent after that.
Before he then revealed the truth to the courtroom, saying that Mrs. Aliko had an attitude of sleeping with different men when Mr. Aliko was away and he almost fell prey to it but the thought of all the good things Mr. Aliko had done for him made him strong and resilient...
That day the whole world heard of the story of the faithful.
Mr. Aliko apologize to Peter and thanked him for being faithful while he divorced his wife and sent her out of his house together with the house boy.
After his first successful case, Peter began to get job offers from different companies to represent them and before the end of the year, he owned his law firm in collaboration with other law personnel. His brother Jerry graduated from the University to become a civil engineer and his sister Esther became a medical doctor. In the end, they lived happily ever after.
