If this bootcamp turns into an absolute disaster for me, I feel like one could trace the exact moment back to somewhere between yesterday and today.
Monday was the start of object oriented programming. To say that my understanding of OOP is shaky would be an understatement. Its about as unstable as a 1 legged cat on an icy lake. Unfortunately this is the foundation of the rest of my Javascript learning adventure. I was hoping that I'd get a better handle after today. Somehow that didn't happen.
jQuery is supposed to be much easier to digest than vanilla Javascript. Yes I know that jQuery IS Javascript...that much I did internalize. The syntax does seem a bit easier to follow. The code is a bit lighter and less bulky or clunky. I've heard jQuery is still very popular, albeit falling out of favor recently now that regular Javascript is more robust and capable of doing most of whatever functionality needs to be done. So its definitely a thing I'll need to learn.
But I've been working on building a jQuery image slideshow all day and finally had to resort to YouTubing someone else's creation. And even that isn't exactly working out for me. I guess this is how I'm supposed to be learning but damn I feel like my brain is about to fall out. At least its from overuse, and not from boredom.
I was concerned about spending too much money during this stretch of unemployment. Going out to eat, or hanging with my friends, or going shopping on the weekends. I have had time for practically none of those things. I have barely seen my girlfriend, haven't seen my friends and have only enough time to eat the food that I've already got. Once that runs out I'll have to make time to go grocery shopping. The only non-coding thing I do is go to the gym, since I'm not about to give up on that. But everything else revolves around coding or learning how to code.
And this blog, which is helping keep me sane. But even that is going to be difficult once the weekend comes and I've got some jQuery-related big project due. I've got 5 more days for a big revelation. But in a week that has a Friday the 13th I'm not going to hold my breath.
