I like many things in nature ...
... but on the top of my like list ...
... are dark places with an alien and surreal atmosphere...
... places like this one ...
... where the snails look like coins ...
... and small plants, like some fairy tale creatures, are looking at you ...
... from the little round shaped windows ...
... this is a humid slowly dissolving world, filled with cool surprises...
... and is located deep down on the forest floor of the forest from the episode 20 - Under the old pines :)

... with that little digression out of the way, let's continue with this catalog of strange little things...
... all of this is taking place on the large and long rotting branch of an old pine...
... that gives life and shelter to many other plants, fungi, and creatures...
... these very little snails have the ideal shape for moving and hiding in narrow spaces between the layers of wood ...
... these ones are made for holes ...
... snails and fungi are the most numerous things here ...
... this is a place ideal for them ...
... moist ...
... dark ...
... hidden ...
... here you can see a small snail and a very small translucent milliped ...
... I was photographing the snail, didn't notice the milliped until I saw the photographs on PC ... the millipede has a bit of motion blur because of the slow shutter speed in this place with scarce light, for a slow-paced snail was ok but the millipede was too fast...
... there are also small patches of moss here ...
... and sometimes on the moss ...
... strange little spheres ...
... I saw many collembolas ...
... but they are too small for a good shot ...
... more like micro than macro ...
... s this is the best I could do with this camera ... and is not much ...
... fortunately, this spider was bigger ...
... but I had time only for a short look ... he soon disappeared into a hole in the wood ...
... I saw many small scorpions ...
... under the bark ...
... they are well adapted for this claustrophobic place ...
... on the surface, the ivy is grabbing the wood with this tentacle-like little roots ...
... very alien looking thing ...
... and this little arthropod was passing by ...
... directed to some shady place ...
... and I was there ...
... amazed ...
... exploring with the camera ...
... all the different fungi formation ...

...some of them looked very shy ...
... like little creatures hiding in their holes ... like some sorts of green squirrels ... or something like that ...
