The photographs I'm about to show you in this post are quite old, but I never published them here on Hive. They were lying forgotten in one of the ancient folders I didn't feel the need to open for more than a decade, not until last night.
Yeah, sure, but why? I mean, why did I open it last night?
I don't know. I just felt like going through some old stuff. I was listening to music and exploring old folders, and now I have a post to write. Not too bad a result.

This is one of the unpaved roads in Marlera in mid-July...

(Enlargeable)

...when rush broom shrubs are fully in bloom.

(Enlargeable)

Marlera is a coastal area that appears in many of my posts.

(Enlargeable)

This place isn't far from where I live, just five or six kilometers from my house.

(Enlargeable)

I could walk there if I wanted, but...

(Enlargeable)

...but I don't. I usually drive.

(Enlargeable)

That's becouse I don't have much time for long walks lately.

(Enlargeable)

Once upon a time, when I had more time, I often walked to Marlera.

(Enlargeable)

The sky is big; we all know that- that's a fact- but the sky in Marlera somehow looks much bigger than the sky anywhere else I've been so far. Which isn't very far. For various reasons, I don't travel much. I travel so much less than I would like to. But that will change one day. I hope that day will come before I get too old to travel.

(Enlargeable)

I took these photographs in 2007.

(Enlargeable)

The stretch of road shown in this photograph looks very much the same right now. Even the pine tree hasn't grown much since then. There is a limit to the growth of the trees in areas like this, a limit established by the poor, stony soil and the wind that can be pretty persistent in winter.

(Enlargeable)

Yeah, Marlera is a cool place with some really photogenic stuff to offer in every season. But this post isn't only about Marlera; that's only half of the story. The other half...

(Enlargeable)

...which starts right now, is about a place that has no name, as far as I know.

(Enlargeable)

It is just an anonymous stretch of coastline a kilometer or two from the village of Shishan. That's about ten kilometers from my home.

(Enlargeable)

The coastal rocks there are quite varied...

(Enlargeable)

...and interesting.

(Enlargeable)

I mean, if you are into rocks, you can find them interesting; otherwise, they can be pretty boring, I guess.

(Enlargeable)

I photographed plenty of them in 2007, and I'm not even that interested in rocks usually. That's funny. Yeah, that rocks.

(Enlargeable)

Imagine what you could build if you had all the rock I showed so far in this post, if you had it nicely cut in Minecraft style.

(Enlargeable)

However, you have to know that I took many of these photographs not becouse of the rocks, but becouse of the sky above them.

(Enlargeable)

The rocks are only a collateral presence in some shots.

(Enlargeable)

The sky is a beautiful thing. I love the sky.

(Enlargeable)

The sky rocks too.

(Enlargeable)

The sky often rocks even when the weather sucks.

(Enlargeable)

I mean, there are some days; it's like, the more the weather sucks, the more the sky rocks, and you just can't get down or be sad despite the gloomy atmosphere. Isn't that crazy, man?

(Enlargeable)

Here in my area, the coastal rocks are mostly made of limestone.

(Enlargeable)

Sometimes the sea washes whole tree trunks up onto the shore. Some of them look like stranded sea monsters from a certain angle.

(Enlargeable)

You can always find something interesting to photograph along this shore.

(Enlargeable)

And that's it. I said enough, and...

(Enlargeable)

...and, most importantly, I don't have any more photographs to show, so...

(Enlargeable)

...so the post ends here - THE END.

As always on Hive, the photographs are my work.
