If I understand the Gnostic doctrine correctly (and they may be the most literal Christians) you can be a Christian regardless of what you think of Christ himself. Christ is viewed as a mortal and thus fallible. It is adherence to the doctrine and moral prerogatives of the faith that Gnostics view as key.
