I know why God warns us of divorce. He hates to see it. The devil is in the details. In his own evil style the devil uses divorce to steal, kill and destroy families, especially children. Most survive it but many are affected, more than I knew. Knowing that doesn’t change the love I have for my husband.
We have been married since 1988. Prior to our marriage my husband was divorced. Married only a short five years at a very young age he had two children as a result of that short lived, failed union. Then that union affected me and mine. I have been defending myself and my husband against darts from that failed relationship for years. The last few years have been in a court room. Our pocket book has suffered significant damage but the worst damage was a father’s relationship with his children.
Misled all along the way the children believe things that just are not true. Their young lives forever affected more than any of ours. The pain of all of this is exactly what God wants to see us avoid. I wish my husband and I could have done that, together. My love overwhelmed my brain as usual.
My Daddy teaches me by example to keep all my important papers. He is always giving me those envelopes from the bank that has ‘Important Papers’, written on it. He says, “I never know what I might need some day”. So I do, I keep everything, but mostly I journal, mostly I write.
I started journaling and writing in high school. I was the feature editor for my high school newspaper. English and Journalism were my favorite classes. I am still learning and being encouraged by some of those unforgettable teachers.
Nursing school in the early 80’s, drilled documentation into my head. The emphasis always placed on documentation. Nurses learn to write every thing down. I learned the meaning and the importance of documentation. I really started documenting my life at that point. My journals became clearer and more precise. I like to write, it makes me feel better. As future RNs we were heavily instructed, in BSN School, “if it ain’t documented, it ain’t been done”. That is the law of nursing.
Unfortunately I found out the hard way that documentation and evidence doesn’t make a hill of beans difference in a civil dispute.
I don’t really understand why ‘they’ call it a “civil” court. The experiences I have had with “civil” court has been everything but “civil”. I have never really figured out who ‘they’ is either. I suppose ‘they’ being the powers that be.
The best place that I knew to find answers to a civil court dilemma was the Bible. Looking back on my journals I can see how without the guidance of Scripture and prayer I would have been lost and trampled in a sea of injustice and pain.
So, with you I am sharing my documentation and my journey. I am writing this book because of the gracious love of God and my love for Him, the love of my family, and the love of my friends. I want to share this compilation of stories based on true life experiences, and somehow make someone’s life a little easier. Possibly by sharing this journey, someone will receive a blessing. Possibly it could show them proof positive that the answers to life’s most difficult questions are found in Scripture. Possibly some readers will decide to pray through their problems. stay tuned.....
